Overview

We design and engineer safety systems for oil & gas and industrial facilities, ensuring risk reduction through integrated process, mechanical, control and safety engineering.
Each safety system is engineered as a dedicated solution, tailored to the specific risk profile, operating conditions, and regulatory framework of the facility.

System Scope

Our safety systems are engineered as integrated architectures and typically include:

  • Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems
  • High Integrity Pressure Protection Systems (HIPPS)
  • Fire detection and fire fighting systems
  • Automatic gas extinguishing systems for electrical and control rooms
  • Instrumentation, control, and safety logic
  • Integration with plant-wide control and monitoring systems

Subsystems

Emergency Shutdown (ESD) Systems

Engineering of ESD systems designed to safely isolate process units during abnormal or hazardous conditions, ensuring rapid response and controlled plant shutdown.

Design of HIPPS solutions to protect downstream equipment from overpressure scenarios, ensuring high reliability and compliance with required Safety Integrity Levels.

Engineering of fire detection and fire fighting systems, including automatic gas-based extinguishing systems for electrical rooms and critical equipment areas, designed to detect, control, and mitigate fire scenarios while minimizing damage to assets.

Engineering Approach

Safety systems are engineered starting from process hazard analysis, defining risk scenarios, protection layers, and system response to ensure effective risk mitigation.
Key activities include:

  • Hazard identification and risk assessment
  • Definition of protection layers and safety functions
  • SIL assessment and verification
  • System architecture and validation

Within our Energy by Fluid approach, fire fighting and safety systems are designed by considering fluid discharge dynamics and transient conditions, ensuring predictable system response and effective hazard mitigation.

Fire Fighting Skid Engineering & Standards

We design and engineer fire fighting skid-mounted systems in compliance with European standards and NFPA codes, ensuring reliable performance and full regulatory compliance across international projects.
Fire fighting systems are engineered to meet applicable EN and NFPA requirements, including system sizing, agent selection, discharge time, and integration with detection and control systems.

System Integration

Safety systems interact with all major plant systems to ensure coordinated and effective response.
Safety systems are integrated with:

  • Process systems, to detect deviations and initiate protective actions
  • Fluid transfer systems, to control flow paths during abnormal conditions
  • Electrical systems and equipment rooms, including automatic gas extinguishing systems for critical electrical and control areas
  • Control systems, to ensure coordinated operation and operator awareness
  • Mechanical systems, to protect equipment integrity under emergency scenarios
