Overview

The Nitrogen Generator System is designed to provide a reliable and continuous supply of nitrogen gas for inerting, purging, blanketing, and safety applications in Oil & Gas facilities.
The system ensures on-site nitrogen availability, reducing dependency on bottled or liquid nitrogen and enhancing operational safety and flexibility.

System Scope

Nitrogen Generator Systems are engineered as fully integrated packages and typically include the following main components:

  • Air intake and filtration system
  • Air compressor package
  • Air dryer and air treatment units
  • Nitrogen generation unit (PSA or membrane technology)
  • Nitrogen buffer / storage vessels
  • Nitrogen pressure regulation and distribution system
  • Oxygen analyzer and purity monitoring

Air Intake and Filtration

Engineering of air intake and filtration systems to supply clean compressed air, protecting downstream equipment and ensuring stable nitrogen production.

Engineering of air compressor and drying systems to deliver compressed air at the required pressure, flow rate, and dew point for nitrogen generation.

Engineering of nitrogen generation units based on PSA or membrane technology to achieve the required nitrogen purity, flow rate, and pressure.

Engineering of nitrogen storage vessels to ensure stable supply during peak demand and transient operating conditions.

Engineering of pressure control and distribution systems to safely deliver nitrogen to multiple users across the facility.

Engineering Approach

The engineering of nitrogen generator systems follows an integrated and safety-driven design approach, focused on reliability, purity control, and operational continuity. Engineering activities begin with the definition of the design basis, including nitrogen demand, purity requirements, pressure, flow rate, redundancy philosophy, and operating environment.
This approach ensures safe nitrogen production, consistent purity, and long-term system reliability.

System Integration

Nitrogen Generator Systems are not standalone units, but integral components of the overall facility, supporting both process and safety functions.
This integrated design philosophy ensures that, when abnormal or hazardous conditions occur, the nitrogen generation system responds reliably and safely—supporting plant safety and operational continuity.
